ラッキーなニューヨーク滞在初日でした。何故ならこの日の主役、インド系アメリカ人1世でこの街を拠点にするシンガーソングライター, アシュニの公演があまりにも素晴らしかったから。彼女のルーツであるインドのオリエンタルな音像が、摩天楼に溶け込むようにジャズやR&Bへと様変わりしていくマジックを、目の前で観ているようでした。イースト・ミーツ・ウエスト。それが若い世代ならではのモダンな形で表現されていることがなにより素晴らしかったと思います。

It was a lucky first day in New York. The reason? The main attraction of the day was an incredible performance by Ashni, a first-generation Indian-American singer-songwriter based in this city. The magic of her music, which seamlessly blended her Indian roots with jazz and R&B, unfolded right before my eyes. East meets West― expressed in a modern, youthful way that was truly mesmerizing.

アシュニはニューヨークを拠点とするシンガーソングライター、作曲家、ボーカリストでピアニスト。彼女の音楽的馴れ初めは、古典的な北インド舞踊のカタックと西洋クラシックピアノから。インド系アメリカ人1世として育った彼女は、ヒンドゥスターニ古典音楽とガルバ（グジャラート州の民謡と舞踊）を幼少期から吸収してきました。これらのルーツから、彼女はポップ、ジャズ、R&Bへの愛を融合させ、聴き手を内省的でカタルシスに満ちた次元へと包み込みます。彼女の作品は、自己、コミュニティ、そして自然界のすべての存在とのつながりについて考察しています。彼女のパフォーマンス歴には、リンカーン・センター、ジョー・ズ・パブ、WNYCのザ・グリーン・スペース、ナショナル・ソーダストなどがあります。彼女はアメリカ東海岸、パリ、ムンバイでパフォーマンスを行ってきました。レジスタンス・リバイバル・コーラスのメンバーでもあります。彼女の音楽は、Spotifyの「Women of Jazz」プレイリスト、アヨデレ・カセルの「Where We Dwell」ニューヨーク・シティ・センター、エミー賞ノミネートのウェブシリーズ「Brown Girls」で特集されています。

Ashni
Ashni is a New York-based songwriter, composer, vocalist and pianist. Her relationship with the stage began with classical North Indian dance, Kathak, and western classical piano. A first-generation Indian American, she grew up absorbing Hindustani classical music and Garba, Gujarati folk music and dance. From these roots, she incorporates her love for pop, jazz, and R&B, and envelops listeners in a reflective, cathartic dimension. Her work meditates on the relationships we build with the self, our communities, and all beings in our natural world.
Her performance credits include Lincoln Center, Joe’s Pub, WNYC's The Greene Space, National Sawdust, and more. She has performed across the east coast in the US, Paris, and Mumbai. She is a member of the Resistance Revival Chorus. Her music has been featured on Spotify's Women of Jazz playlist, in Ayodele Casel’s “Where We Dwell” at New York City Center, and the acclaimed, Emmy-nominated web series “Brown Girls.”
