LE DUC DES LOMBARDS
Bobby Few was the first American pianist to play in the early 80's at the Duc des Lombards. By this time, the Duc was a small bar called "Bar de l'Etoile". There was an upright piano under the stairs.
According to Bobby, what makes a real jazz club is:
1. A good piano
2. An open-minded owner
3. A sharp audience
4. A place where musicians can go after a show to relax or improvise
5. Proximity to people
This is why for almost 40 years, the Duc des Lombards has been an essential jazz club in Paris. These 5 commandments are the foundations of our club. Thanks to its excellent piano, the Duc welcomes the finest jazz names on stage. It is also an unmissable place for the youngsters, French newcomers will often cross their instruments at the Duc's jam sessions.
Designed by Elliot Barnes, the Duc des Lombards has become the Parisian reference for jazz clubs, offering more than 300 concerts per year. 6 days a week, by 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. from Monday to Saturday, and free jam sessions every Friday and Saturday from 11:30 p.m.
Because Jazz can't wait.
